Jack, Cathi, Katherine and I set out from Sawmill Campground near the Hoover Wilderness east of Yosemite for Green Treble and Maul Lakes. At Maul Lake, I proposed going on over a little pass to Spuller Lake and continuing down Mine Creek to Fantail and Shell Lake and through the old silver mining ghost town of Bennetville to Junction Campground. We agreed and Cathi joined me while Katherine and Jack headed back to the car to pick us up at Junction Campground. The bilberry had turned a scarlet red in the late August frosts making for dramatic backlighting effects. Enjoy the pics!

Morning Walk up the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River
While camping at the Tuolumne Campground in Yosemite National Park in August 2016, I arose with the raucous calls of the Steller's Jays to take a leisurely walk up the Lyell Fork. I was richly rewarded by mists rising off the river across the reflection of Lembert Dome, soft trunk shadows of the Lodgepole Pine cast on the ground, and a doe and her fawn crossing the river.
