Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the National Park Service at Yosemite's Tuolumne Meadows

We were blessed to attend two anniversary events in Tuolumne Meadows. The first was a musical campfire celebration at Dana Campfire Center in Tuolumne Meadows on the very day 100 years hence that the National Park Service was created. The second was Terry Tempest Williams' talk on her new book "The Hour of Land" at the old Parson's Lodge at Tuolumne's Soda Springs. We also helped celebrate the many decades of service Ranger-Interpreter Margaret Eissler has contributed to holding and telling the Tuolumne story. Enjoy these images . . .

Through-Hiking from Sawmill Campground to Junction Campground on the East Side of Yosemite's Tioga Pass

Jack, Cathi, Katherine and I set out from Sawmill Campground near the Hoover Wilderness east of Yosemite for Green Treble and Maul Lakes. At Maul Lake, I proposed going on over a little pass to Spuller Lake and continuing down Mine Creek to Fantail and Shell Lake and through the old silver mining ghost town of Bennetville to Junction Campground. We agreed and Cathi joined me while Katherine and Jack headed back to the car to pick us up at Junction Campground. The bilberry had turned a scarlet red in the late August frosts making for dramatic backlighting effects. Enjoy the pics!
